This project located at the intersection of West Brookline and Warren Ave presented a collection of unique design challenges. The driving design concept for each of the three units is to draw natural light through the building in order to bring life to the previously dark interior, specifically in the garden level unit. This is achieved through a new floating stair and glass flooring adjacent to the vertical circulation from street to garden level. Skylights and a light well help to fill the top levels, while the parlor level takes advantage of the high ceilings and bay window to complete the light filled concept.
